Asians in the White House

Now that we finally have a minority in office, one is to think he must surround himself with white people and he simply represents their ideas. That is not the case with Barack Obama. There are more Asian Americans in american politics than ever before. As a matter of fact, out of the 15 President's Caabinet members, three of them are Asian Americans. That is incredible.
Obama's Cabinet secretary, Chris Lu, was a classmate of obama's at Harvard. His parents were immigrants and he says that him working at the White House is a dream come true. 62% of Asian Americans voted for Obama. According to the Hyphen Magazine, Asian Americans were the deciding factor in the swing states during the 2008 election. Kevin Liao is another Asian American that has worked for Obama. Liao also worked as a part of the youth commission for the San Ftancisco board of Supervisors. The Obama administration has set historic markers in terms of appointment of Asian Americans in the Cabinet and in the White House. Til next time keep it heemin.

AA HOOPS Jeremy Lin

Today I want to talk about the Golden State Warriors rookie guard Jeremy Lin. He is the first American NBA basketball player to be of Chinese or Taiwanese descent. This already makes him a fan favorite across the nation but because he is from the Bay Area, he is looked at as a hometown hero. When I attended the warriors game against the pistons, the building roared when he entered the game. Actually the crowd goes crazy whenever he simply touches the ball. But his stardom did not come as easily as the other fan favorites. In his 2005-06 senior year season at Palo Alto high school, he led his team to a 32-1 record. Meanwhile upsetting nationally ranked Mater Dei high school. However the dream season did not lead him to a well deserved athletic scholarship to a D.1 school. Instead of calling it quits he used his brilliance to be accepted and attend Harvard University. Wow. At Harvard, he quickly told his coach he was not going to do anything Extra flashy or freakishly athletic in which he did not but was considered to all league teams his sophomore year through his senior year. But strangely this was still not enough to be drafted to the NBA. Disappointing. But when he joined the Dallas mavericks summer league team he immediately showed his basketball abilities. He was eventually signed with the Golden state warriors. So if you like to see fun and tough basketball watch this kid. And yes he is Chinese Taiwanese American. Jeremy Shu-How Lin. Keep it heemin.

The Green Hornet 青蜂俠 the movie~~~~ JAY CHOU~~

The Green Hornet is a movie mand Directed by Michel Gondry. The film stars Seth Rogen in the title role, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Evan Goldberg. Supporting actors include Jay Chou as Kato, Nicolas Cage, Cameron Diaz, Edward James Olmos, David Harbour and Tom Wilkinson. The film will be released in the United States on January 14, 2011, which will also include RealID Cinema and IMAX 3D

 like i say Jay Chou 周杰倫 is a Taiwanese famous singer and he also a directed of movie and  Music Viedo. he is a songwriter and actor!!!!
In 2005 he is in the movie call 頭文字D Intial D. Yexiang Lun's father, the road twenty years ago, teachers rain, he has also graduation day, light rain is way to die that day because of asthma attacks, and the road took a picture of light rain. Now jay chou is a very famous star that he is the first taiwanese in the Hollywood movie.
and he is with a lot famous Hollywood movie stars. many people are very proud of him. This is a sad movie.

Remember the restaurant i told you last week?! will on Friday my mom come to pick me home and it was about lunch time so she ask me what do i want to eat? will i told mom that we can go to Banana Island because it have been very long time that we had no go to that place. so my mom drive over there and have lunch too.
 we have order their famous dish which is Roti Canal (India Pancake) it is Malaysian crispy and indian style pancake with curry dipping sauce. This is my favorite dish!!!

and Roti Telur this one is different from the top one because it is a traditional India pancake filled with egg and onion and served with curry potato sauce.

 

A Satay Chicken and Beef  we order combo!! the chicken and beef is on skewer charcoal grilled to perfection and served with peanut sauce.

next we order Sizzling Malaysia Tofu Platter , tender Tofu with minced chicken&shrimp, sauteed with chinese mushroom, served with a splashed egg on the sizzling platter. this is delicious because the Tofu is homemade and taste very good. I love to eat TOFU 2~~~

lastly but least is the  Deep Fried Fish with Belacan sauce.

 I also took video on Roti Canal because it is really fun to watch it how they make that pancake.

all about me

Wassup, my name is Brandon Lee.  I was on July 26, 1992.  My Chinese name is 李志行 (Li Zi Xing).  I am from Rosemead, California.  It is best known for as the birth place of Siracha.  It is located right next to El Monte, Pasadena, Alhambra, and Monterey Park.  I have two siblings, one older brother who is also my twin, and another younger brother who is 4 years younger than me.

I am Chinese.  My dad was born is China, but at a very young age, his grandmother was very ill so he had to move to Hong Kong to tend to her, so he says that he is from Hong Kong because that was where he was raised.  My mother is from Malaysia, but tells me that she is Chinese because that a true Malaysian is like the Indian ones and that to the Malaysian people, she is not seen as a true Malaysian.
My hobbies include playing video games, hanging out with my friends, basketball, baseball, football, track and field, and some other stuff I can’t remember.  I was the captain of my schools track and field team.  My favorite teams for sports include for basketball: the Lakers, Trailblazers, and the Heat. For Football: The Jets and the Chargers.  For baseball: the Dodgers and the Giants.  The favorite players for each sport are: Dwyane Wade, Reggie Bush, and Andre Ethier  My favorite type of music is R&B and Kpop.  My favorite artist is Taeyang and my favorite song as of now is “Look Only At Me.” My favorite food is Spaghetti, my favorite color is red, and I tend to wear American Eagle, A&F, nike, vans, and lucky brand clothes.

Last week, my family came to visit me all the way from Los Angeles for Columbus Day weekend.  It was really fun because I got to see my dad, brother, and grandparents again.  Also because I got to see my beautiful car again.  I couldn’t bring it with me because its hard to find parking spots around San Fran, and because I’m afraid to drive up the hills.  My dad and brother stayed for a day and my grandparents stayed for three because they have a lot of friends in this area, so I decided to tag along with them after my classes would end so I could be with them.  We went to all these Chinese restaurants and I realized something….  Why do Chinese people tap the table when someone else is pouring tea into their cups?  I did a little researching and found out it was an expression of gratitude.
It was invented during the Qing dynasty under the rule of the Qianlong Emperor.  He liked to travel incognito a lot.  Once, in a tea house with some friends of his, in order to conceal his secret, he took his turn to pour tea for everyone on the table.  His friends wanted to kowtow, which was like when you bow to the emperor, for it was a great honor to have the emporer to pour tea for you to drink, but couldn’t because it would give away the emperors secret.  Thus, the finger kowtow was invented.  The middle finger represented the bowed head and the two other fingers represent the arms.

李小龍

Today, I’m going to talk about Asians in the movie industry in America and probably the most famous Asian in all of Hollywood.  Well, we all know that the most famous Asian person in Hollywood today is none other than kung fu master, Jackie Chan.  Chan is in many movies including, the Rush Hour Trilogy, Shanghai noon and Shanghai Knights, Kung Fu Panda, The Forbidden Kingdom, Around the World in 80 day and many more.  His name is probably most known out of all the Asian actors in America.  After that, there is Jet Li, Chow Yun Fat, <3 Lucy Liu <3, and many more.  We can’t forget who paved the way for most of these Asian actors, Bruce Lee.  Bruce Lee was known for his phenomenal fitness, his yellow jumpsuit, kicking ass with nun chucks, and his super fast fighting moves.  Lee was a first generation born in the San Francisco to parents from Hong Kong, however, he was raised Hong Kong and moved back to America to claim citizenship.   The story of Bruce Lee is known by many people as a tragedy, for he died at a very young age due to swollen brain.
Bruce Lee created his own fighting style called Jun Fan Gung Fu which meant Bruce Lee’s Kung Fu.  He starred in many movies such as Enter the Dragon, Game of Death, The Big Boss, and many more.  Some of his feats included throwing a grain of rice into the air and catching it with chopsticks mid-air and snatching a nickel from someone’s hand before they could close it and put a penny back.  A little fun fact is that Bruce Lee’s son, who also died at a young age from a tragedy, shares the same name as me, Brandon Lee
